Mr. Anthony Miceli Demajo, Chairman of the M. Demajo Group recently unveiled a portrait painting of Joseph M. Demajo who served as the Group’s Chairman and CEO for many years until his demise in 2011.

During his brief address to the audience, comprising family and non-family directors, Anthony expressed a few words of praise acknowledging the Group’s founder Mr. Michel Demajo as well as second generation family members Victor P. Balzan and Joseph M. Demajo.

Referring to ‘is-Sur Joe’ (as he was commonly addressed by the Group’s employees), Anthony reminisced how his uncle was an inspiration to the family business as well as the social side of the family, constantly seeking unity and consensus. Mr. Joe was a ‘man for all’ irrespective of rank, always ready and willing to listen to one’s thoughts and ideas whether commercially related or otherwise. He gave respect and earned it twice over from all who were fortunate to have known him. We, as a Group of Companies are mindful to continue to uphold such values and qualities, Mr. Miceli Demajo added.

The portrait was commissioned to Ms. Philippa Bianchi an upcoming artist who despite her early career, already holds a prestigious collection of works. Among her varied assignments, one finds distinguished personalities including HH Pope Benedict XVI, HSH Princess Adelheid von Liechtenstein and HG Archbishop of Malta, Paul Cremona.

A short reception followed in the Board Room where the painting has been hanged.
