M. Demajo (W&S) is justifiably proud to announce that it has been awarded the title of Diageo Partner of the Year (E. European Markets).

This prestigious award, was announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony of the Diageo Partners Conference held in Tallinn , Estonia between April 27th and 29 th The award ,a replica of a copper pot still, was presented to Managing Director Mr. Anthony Miceli Demajo by Mr. Andrew Morgan, President Europe - Diageo plc. who ascribed this success to the excellent performance during 2009, largely as a result of its efforts and best practices.

Mr. Morgan stressed the fact that Malta was one of the few Eastern European markets that showed growth despite the global economic meltdown and was the only one to achieve double digit growth in this depressing scenario.

The Diageo Partner Awards consist of a number of categories (eight this year) for which the 28 individual markets making up Diageo Eastern Europe submit their entries. The entries are then pre selected into three nominations per category with the winners being announced during the Gala Awards night as a prelude to the announcement of the overall winner, very much in the Night of the Oscars tradition.

This year, all four of Malta's entries submitted were nominated in their respective categories and won the Award for Best Execution of On Trade Activity with the Smirnoff Experience Party Programme. The other nominations were achieved for Best Category Initiative with the execution of the Winter Whisky Festival, Best Off Trade Activity for the Summer Drinks campaign and Best PR Activity for Excise Duty Reduction Lobby.

The winning of the Partner of the Year Award means that Malta will be hosting next year's edition of the Conference and Awards Ceremony, an event that will bring together a sizeable group of people from 28 different markets and where, hopefully, Malta will figure as well as it has done over the past few years.
