For the sixth consecutive year, the HSBC Cares for Children Fund (HCCF) organized the Corporate Responsibility Day on the 19th March, with the involvement of volunteers from seven major companies of Malta.
More than 300 volunteers, namely employees of HSBC, Gasan Group, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, Mizzi Organisation, Vodafone Malta Ltd, M. Demajo Group and the other Groups gave up their public holiday to help seven homes for refugees around Malta with odd jobs and maintenance work.
All their efforts were lauded by the President of Malta, Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, the Archbishop of Malta, Mgr. Paul Cremona and Mrs. Catherine Gonzi, chairman of the HCCF, who visited all the volunteers in the afternoon.
During the visit to the Good Shepherd Home, Dr. Fenech Adami said solidarity has always been the hallmark of the Maltese character and people were discovering new ways of showing it.
Refugees- he said gave people another opportunity to demonstrate solidarity and he added that there are still prejudices that need to be overcome.
