Corporate Functions
This section identifies the M. Demajo Group’s centralised functions:
• The Group operates a centralised system under the brand - M. Demajo Services and is effectively the administrative arm of the Group
• The centralised services provide a focused and expert service to the subsidiary companies
Finance
The Finance department's role wihin M. Demajo Sevices Ltd is to provide the Group with the services of accounting, treasury management, credit control and debt collection and to ensure that all senior management of the Group has access to timely and accurate information necessary for proper decision making in the most efficient and cost effective way possible. The Finance Department is responsible for the preparation of all management accounts and variance reports, budgets, tax and VAT returns, payroll and other special functions such as feasibility reports and the evaluation of business opportunities, tax planning and risk assessment.
Information technology
The Information & Communication Technology unit aims to provide the latest technology, solutions and best practices in the most cost-effective and professional manner in order to suit the true business needs and provide a competitive edge to all the subsidiaries of the M. Demajo Group.
Human Resources
With M. Demajo employees being the living soul of the Group's success story, the Human Resources function plays a vital role. Constantly aligning the goals of the business to the goals of each and every employee, Human Resources within M. Demajo Group is constantly evolving, learning and adapting to its internal and external environment. New and improved mechanisms such as 360 degrees appraisal systems, balance scorecard, performance related benefits combined with structured training, sponsorships, mentoring, coaching and increasing employee support enables M. Demajo employees to grow within the Group and to deploy their best skills. The Human Resource function aims to attract, develop and retain talent, actively pursuing a unique competitive edge.
Marketing
With diversification as one of the main contenders to deal with, the marketing function within M. Demajo Group plays a strategic and operational role in ensuring that corporate image is at the forefront of all marketing matters. Within M. Demajo Group, corporate image is designed to be appealing to the public, so that the company can spark an interest among consumers, create share of mind, generate brand equity, and thus facilitate product sales. The marketing team within the Group is responsible for the preparation of the Group marketing plan and works closely with the various subsidiaries to ensure that corporate marketing standards are being met. Other objectives of this function include, developing of new promotional tools, PR activities, public exposure, advertising and editorial contents, customer satisfaction analysis together with improvement plans and the creation of synergy within the Groups operational divisions.
Legal services
With a strategy to provide accurate, reliable and ethical legal counsel to the company, the legal department is involved in negotiating, drafting and implementing contractual agreements, defining policies and structures, driving the strategic agenda and introducing best practice to add value from both a legal and commercial perspective. In fulfilling this vision, the head of the legal department is also Company Secretary of the M. Demajo Group subsidiaries in order to ensure that the companies forming part of the Group as well as the management comply with company legislation and regulation. This department is responsible for providing additional legal services, which include: consultation and advice, court work, debt collection, and has taken on a prominent role in the realm of corporate governance.
Logistics
The logistics department offers a one stop shop for the organisation's supply chain requirements. This function offers a wide range of customized services that reflect the needs of our clients, most especially in the import, export and distribution sector. The main services this department offers include purchasing and procurement, monitoring position of consignments, credit control, shipping requirements, import / export, airfreight requirements, statistical information, customs clearance, excise clearance, government departments, marine insurance, motor fleet, consignment costing and trading licenses. The function's main objective is customer satisfaction. In achieving this, the department focuses on its mission statement that states - "In the right place, at the right time, at the right cost."
